Treating Mind, Body and Spirit as One
关于我们
The Psychotherapy & Spirituality Institute (PSI) is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded in 1975, that provides psychotherapy, counseling, training, and continuing education to address the emotional and spiritual health of the people of New York City and beyond. PSI’s interdisciplinary staff includes psychologists, pastoral psychotherapists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, spiritual directors, interfaith clergy, executive coaches and creative arts therapists. All of our clinicians are licensed in the State of New York and our services are offered on a sliding scale. PSI is interested in understanding your spiritual journey as well as your emotional and psychological needs. We address the connection between mind, body and spirit and the role that spirituality plays in emotional health and well-being.

For those attending the 2025 Psychotherapy Networker Symposium in March, be sure not to miss hearing from Sarah Segal McCaslin, MS, MDiv, LCSW on March 22. Although a recent national survey found that most clients have overwhelmingly positive attitudes about integrating their religion and spirituality into treatment, most therapists report feeling ill-equipped to meet these needs, especially if a sense of spiritual disconnection or lack of faith has led to personal struggles. In this workshop, you’ll explore what it means to be a spiritually competent therapist. You’ll walk away with practical guidance and interventions to incorporate spirituality into your practice, making sure you’re equipped to address religious and spiritual issues in a way that fosters meaningful and productive therapeutic outcomes. You’ll discover: How to navigate clients’ spiritual crises, disconnection from faith, and existential struggles The ethical implications of introducing spirituality in therapy Practical interventions for integrating spirituality into treatment to enhance outcomes and empower clients Get more info & tickets via the link in our bio or go here: https://lnkd.in/d857by3V

"For Sarah Segal McCaslin, MS, MDiv, LCSW, an ordained minister, licensed clinician, and the executive director of PSI ... the therapist’s office isn’t just a place to talk about your day-to-day troubles, but a place to explore more amorphous concepts, including your faith, your sense of spirituality, or that feeling of smallness you get when you look up at a big black sky full of stars." - read more from Sarah Segal McCaslin and other PSI therapists in "The Spiritual Therapist: Healing and the Secular Priesthood" by Chris Lyford, published by Psychotherapy Networker. https://lnkd.in/emAwpXJs

The holiday season can be challenging for many, especially those navigating grief, complicated family dynamics, or loneliness. For some, this time of year amplifies feelings of isolation, anxiety, or sadness, and the pressure to be cheerful can feel overwhelming. If the season of joy feels more stressful than festive, you're not alone, and there are ways to cope. In her blog 'Tis the Season: Prioritizing Mental Health During the Holidays, Sarah McCaslin offers several tips and resources to navigate the season with less stress and more self-compassion. From embracing self-care to setting boundaries with family, Sarah shares practical advice to help you get through the season—whether you're grieving, managing tough relationships, or simply feeling overwhelmed. If you're grieving, lean on trusted friends and ask for specific support. And if you're supporting someone else, offer concrete help rather than vague promises. Embrace moments of joy in simple things—whether it's a walk, a solo dance party, or quiet time with a friend. Be gentle with yourself and those around you. May you have a gentle and fulfilling holiday season.
