Helping minds find their melody

关于我们

Mission: Mind&Melody, Inc. is a non-profit organization that implements interactive music programs with educational and therapeutic benefits for individuals experiencing neurological impairments in order to improve quality of life. About Music Programs: Our music sessions begin with simple music theory lessons and progress to teaching the participants how to play short songs on the keyboard and guitar using a color-coded system we developed. Participants are able to learn about music while increasing dexterity, speech, and working memory. Participants experiencing neurological impairments greatly benefit from our program because of the cognitive, social, physical, and creative stimulation. Our music programs have the major advantage of the interactive teaching and learning component. Our program is unique in this way and creates a stimulating environment for the volunteers, participants, and facility where we implement the program. The quality of our programs is high; the feedback from volunteers and professionals has been outstanding. We have lesson plans mapped out for each musician volunteers in an understandable way. Each volunteer is thoroughly trained to understand the individuals they will be working with along with all the policies they must follow. The target population involves individuals that are under-served in the healthcare industry. Our services help address the lack of enrichment programs catered to people experiencing neurological decline at healthcare facilities. There is a need to integrate social and healthcare services with medical providers. Our program also allows for volunteers to experience leadership and creativity in a growing area of healthcare. They are asked to come up with new lesson plans and carry them out during our sessions. They also have to work in teams with other volunteers to make the session flow smoothly which improves their team building skills.
