With new DOB rules now in place, building owners have more time to develop strategic decarbonization plans for upgrades and retrofits, all while optimizing their budgets. Starting May 1, 2025, you’ll need to submit reports on annual greenhouse gas emissions or face fines of $268 per metric ton of CO2 over the limit. This clip highlights the alternative compliance pathways, including “Good Faith Efforts” and “Beneficial Electrification” projects, which allow buildings over the limits to develop decarbonization plans in lieu of paying fines.
