Growth. I recently visited our Spartanburg construction site with my dad, nephew, and key team members who are driving this mammoth project to stand up a 200,000 SF greenfield manufacturing and distribution center in beautiful Upstate South Carolina (thanks Missy Ellis, Jake Lunday, and Kevin Eckerich!) Approximately 500 people have been on-site every day to make it all happen, and we are now reaching the home stretch. Spartanburg is the largest project in?Milo's Tea Company, Inc.?history. It's double the size of our plant in Tulsa which opened in 2020 at the height of COVID. We are investing yet again because we need more capacity to deliver #MilosMoments Across America! ?? Over the past year, I've been watching the photos and time lapse camera as the foundations, walls, and equipment go up, and this #ProudCEO is amazed (and a little scared...). The facility is more than just a factory in our network; it's a huge step in making more opportuniTEAs for our future. At scale, this site will employ more than 200 people that will bring the place to life. This is the third facility that the TEAm and I have had the honor of opening since 2020. Standing up a new factory is a very complex thing - tons of equipment, utilities, facilities... But I happen to think one of the hardest parts of the ramp up is transferring our #PeopleFirst culture. It takes laser focus on every aspect of our Enterprise Operating System but some of the most important systems are: ?? Community. Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the Birmingham Corporate Challenge with almost 100 folks from TEAm Milo's and their families. This is Milo's 3rd year participating in this adult field day, but our first year placing in our division! HATs off to TEAm Milo's for taking home 2nd place in our division!??? Corporate Challenge is a great way for Birmingham businesses to come together for friendly competition, promote health and wellness, and most importantly, give back to our community. I was energized feeling our unique PeopleFirst culture that is the number one ingredient for our success during each event and interaction. While walking, hula hooping and enjoying all the various activities, I had the chance to ask many employees why they participated in the Corporate Challenge, and their comments echo the values that are important in every corner of our business, and really fuel my personal why. To name just a few I heard throughout the day, "TEAmwork," "partnership," "showcasing what it looks like to be agile," and community, community, community. It makes me a #ProudCEO to know we have so many A Players who really get our secret sauce AND want to come together for our shared purpose. So, a big HATs Off to everyone who helped us bring home first place in the Move n' Groove, hula hoop competition, the One Mile Fun Walk, basketball and bowling.??? ?And, on top of our athletic victories, Milo's matched donations our associates made from their Milo's Makes a Difference fund to double our positive impact for Children's of Alabama. ???? It was also extra sweet magic that we brought together corporate AND front line folks who work tirelessly in our manufacturing and distribution centers to deliver consistent deliciousness.
