When the process goes exactly to plan???? Last night I was invited to attend the American Advertising Federation Gala at Cipriani Wall Street?? Less than 3 weeks ago Little Bird received a request, “Can you guys make a virtual step & repeat? How would we execute it?” aaaaand so Jeffrey Wolfe at Nervy Pictures & Jack Ehrbar at MotR got to it. Pitching ideas, budgeting costs, and figuring out innovative solutions. We got the call “awarded” and a mere 10 days ago were off to the races, 288 phones, lots of rendering, and tedious fabrication days with such patient and excited people. And last night we saw it all come to life and I got to be the first photo of the night ??????♀? As I listened to all the honorees speeches and mingled with some of the most iconic and powerful people in our industry, Queen Latifah, & Shaggy, I felt so incredibly grateful. I keep finding myself in scenarios wondering, “How did I get myself here?” …you have to ride the highs longer than you dwell on the lows. Thank you for the opportunity to show you what we could pull off Philip Savage - you & your teams were the coolest BBDO New York & AT&T ???

I'm very happy to share that we have completed our teaser trailer for Dark Ages! It premiered at BCon LA last week, where I gave a talk on some of the production techniques used to make it. We would love to make the full 20 minute film, but for now two minutes will have to do. Please like and share and maybe we'll find a way to finish it! Huge thanks to some very awesome people: Jason Todd Shannon of ECHODROME provided the score and sound design. Without his contribution it just wouldn't be. If you need music and or sound design, tell him I sent you. David Towles-Moore provided the character animation (and had to do it like an old-school stop motion animator too;) Ty Roberson built and textured much of the stuff you see. Hannah Covington-Walker built the original puppet for the Professor and cathedral portal. Jack Ehrbar did some late game animation and provided support for me to finish this during some challenging times at MotR. Thanks dude for helping make this long-time dream project closer to reality.

I'm excited for Blender's first US conference next week on the 19th and 20th! I'll be a morning speaker on the 20th discussing the making of Dark Ages. I'll be premiering the teaser trailer there! I'll also be showing a bunch of the methods we used for keeping to a stop-motion look including building puppets, photo-scanning, set design, animation tricks and lighting. My short teaser for Dark Ages is picture complete. On to sound!!! It's been a rough several months as the industry reels from what seems like an unprecedented lack of work.
