??We're thrilled to announce that Dickinson Parks and Recreation has been selected by the National Recreation and Park Association to participate in the Million Coaches Challenge! We’ll receive no-cost training from national leading training partners to enhance our skills in social and emotional learning (SEL) and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for staff who work with youth. Leaders of LiFEsports at OSU, including Drs. Dawn Anderson-Butcher and Samantha Bates, just published a groundbreaking article in Quest! The study "Coach Training Participation and Athlete Life Skill Development" explores how participation in coach training is related to youth athletes' life skill development and success in sports. This research is a significant step forward in understanding the positive effects of coach training on the holistic development of young athletes. We're thrilled to announce that we're teaming up with the California Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and Mental Well-being for the 25x25 California Coaches Challenge! The mission is to train 25,000 youth coaches in CA by 2025 to revolutionize youth sports across the state. As part of the Council’s Move Your Body, Calm Your Mind Campaign, the Governor’s Council is collaborating with MCC partners Positive Coaching Alliance and Center for Healing and Justice through Sport to lead a statewide effort to promote positive youth development, social-emotional learning, and healing-centered practices among youth coaches. American Institutes for Research will provide research support for the initiative.
