New Resource from the Million Coaches Challenge! ?? 2024 POLICY UPDATE: Mapping School-Based Coach Education and Training Requirements in the United States Over the past four years, school-based coaching policies have seen notable shifts, especially in health, safety, and mental health requirements. This new brief from the Million Coaches Challenge maps out evolving priorities for coach education, highlighting centralized governance, essential health protocols, and the growing focus on mental health training. State leaders are paving the way for continuous learning, with opportunities for legislation to further support coaches in pedagogy, youth development, and wellness. ??We're thrilled to announce that Dickinson Parks and Recreation has been selected by the National Recreation and Park Association to participate in the Million Coaches Challenge! We’ll receive no-cost training from national leading training partners to enhance our skills in social and emotional learning (SEL) and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for staff who work with youth. We're thrilled to announce that we're teaming up with the California Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and Mental Well-being for the 25x25 California Coaches Challenge! The mission is to train 25,000 youth coaches in CA by 2025 to revolutionize youth sports across the state. As part of the Council’s Move Your Body, Calm Your Mind Campaign, the Governor’s Council is collaborating with MCC partners Positive Coaching Alliance and Center for Healing and Justice through Sport to lead a statewide effort to promote positive youth development, social-emotional learning, and healing-centered practices among youth coaches. American Institutes for Research will provide research support for the initiative.
