Fresno Unified School District (Fresno,CA) recently visited the McDowell Manufacturing Lab as they look to create their own manufacturing program! The visit was an opportunity to show what our innovative student manufacturing program is all about. Instructor, Kyle Bucholtz, detailed the structure of our student-run enterprises & highlighted our ongoing collaboration with the Gene Haas Foundation. We are so proud that McDowell Manufacturing is an example program educators around the country are looking to for inspiration ?????

MTSD teachers are feeling excited to explore new possibilities with AI in the classroom after a recent visit from guest speaker, A.J. Juliani! Mr. Juliani is a current faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education & a national bestselling author. His written works & appearances aim to promote student agency & creativity through innovative learning. Teachers from every grade level participated in discussion on the recent advancements & effects of AI on education, while also learning to apply a variety of AI tools in our classrooms districtwide????

Our dedicated teachers spent their recent staff in-service day collaborating & discussing the brand new MTSD Portrait of a Graduate! This districtwide professional development opportunity included a presentation outlining the ethics & integral skills students will learn over the course of their educational journey here at MTSD. The Portrait of a Graduate focuses on anchoring learning with a growth mindset mentality. Thank you to our staff & administration for working hard to build academic confidence here at MTSD as students grow to become our next innovative leaders ????

Our high school Social Studies department visited Carnegie Natural History & Art Museum on Monday for professional development! These educators spent a valuable day looking into the past & contemplating the future while exploring the many on-site resources available. They dove deeper into the interactions humans have had with different biomes across the globe, enriched their understanding of people from different eras through artwork, and so much more. This was an invaluable visit for our staff and we cannot wait to see how they incorporate their enhanced knowledge into their lessons ??
