Next up in our Latinx Heritage Month features: CADSPARC, where founder Jonathan Aguilar is revolutionizing the manufacturing industry thanks to virtual twin technology. With his combination of computer-aided design and augmented reality, manufacturers can create virtual replicas of their products and test them in a simulated environment, making it easier to visualize the products prior to manufacturing or 3D printing. Jonathan grew up in Lawrence, Mass., and was a first-generation college student at UMass Lowell in 2021. We were proud to provide a loan from the Haverhill Loan Fund to help Jonathan start his business while he was at UMass Lowell, and it's been inspiring to watch CADSPARC grow! #latinxheritagemonth #community #technology

Today begins a new chapter for Mill Cities Community Investments and the Foundation for Business Equity. We’re now united under one name and brand: Nectar Community Investments. Our name is a nod to that small yet essential natural nutrient that keeps the world’s ecosystem humming — just like our raw materials of financial products and services boost the strengths, drive and talents of homeowners and small business owners. What we call ourselves and how we look might be new, but our purpose is stronger than ever. We’re continuing to innovate and find ways to deploy capital to the people and places that need it most. Becoming Nectar allows us to fully capture the pioneering nature of that mission, and to showcase how our vision and values are tied to growth and connection. We’re grateful to everyone who provided input and advice on this change, including our Board of Directors, staff, community partners, funders, and clients. We were proud to feature our Business Development Lending Officer Elsabel Rincon in our Latinx Heritage Month highlight earlier this week, and thanks to the Salem Public Schools for doing the same! The story talks about how Elsabel, who came to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic in 1994 and graduated from Salem High School in 2002, has been an longtime advocate for immigrants and works tirelessly to make a difference for underserved communities. What's your favorite thing about being Latino/a/x?: As a Dominican living in the US, being Latina is a unifying identity and source of power, honoring centuries of resilience and survival of our diverse Latino community. I love connecting with a large, diverse community of Latinos and making my life that much richer. What does working at MCCI + FBE mean to you?: Working at MCCI + FBE gives me the privilege of uplifting our communities through an economic lens that addresses the root cause of many of the intersecting issues impacting underserved communities. In addition to propelling our mission of closing the racial wealth gap, we are improving communities' overall health and quality of life.
