Join us in honoring [...] by Fady Joudah, a 2024 National Book Award Finalist! National awareness from prestigious awards like this help increase the reach and impact of the books we publish. We're honored to celebrate our author's achievements, and—more importantly—the life-changing impact his words will now have on even more readers, thanks to this amplification. This collection of powerful poems was rushed to publication this spring, after Fady Joudah sent them to our publisher and CEO Daniel Slager late last fall, an urgency necessitated by the book's context and content. With thousands of copies in circulation, and more on the way, now even more readers will pick up a copy and experience the power of Joudah's poetry. Congratulations to all of the National Book Award finalists: https://lnkd.in/dJeCca_r. Learn more about [...] by Fady Joudah here: milkweed.org/product/2922.
关于我们
Just as the common milkweed plant is the site of metamorphosis for monarch butterflies, Milkweed Editions seeks to be a site of metamorphosis in the literary ecosystem. We take risks on debut and experimental writers, we invest significant time and care in the editorial process, and we enable dynamic engagement between authors and readers. We operate as a nonprofit to pursue these ends without overbearing financial pressure. And yet, though profits aren’t our primary focus, helping our authors succeed certainly is. Just so, since our founding in 1980, we’ve published over 350 books of literary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry and now have over four million copies in circulation. We believe that literature has the potential to change the way we see the world, and that bringing new voices to essential conversations is the clearest path to ensuring a vibrant, diverse, and empowered future. Milkweed Editions is an independent publisher of literary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Our mission is to identify, nurture, and publish transformative literature, and build an engaged community around it. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, our work is made possible by the generosity of sustaining funders and readers. Join our community of sustaining members today: milkweed.org/membership.

“Our values, the way we operate in the world, the way we treat staff, what we’re trying to accomplish in the world — it is all shaped by Robin Wall Kimmerer’s messages. Our mission statement changed after ‘Braiding Sweetgrass.’ Think of the changes that follow from that! Everything from where we print our books to curatorial decisions.”—Milkweed Editions Publisher and CEO Daniel Slager on the transformative power of Robin Wall Kimmerer’s BRAIDING SWEETGRASS Thank you to Jenna Ross at Star Tribune for sharing the incredible story of this life-changing book as as we celebrate its tenth anniversary!
