The PUMP Act covers work travel too—not just #RTO. There’s one key detail that’s often overlooked by employers: The PUMP Act also applies to work travel, not just return-to-office policies. The #PUMPAct requires employers to provide reasonable break time and a private, non-bathroom space for nursing employees to pump. This applies whether an employee is in the office, working remotely, or traveling for work. So what does this mean in practice? 1. Employers must ensure traveling employees have access to a compliant lactation space—this could mean partnering with hotels, clients, or conference venues. 2. Employees should not be expected to pump in bathrooms, cars, or other unsuitable locations. 3. Travel schedules should allow for pumping breaks without penalty. If your company has a travel policy, it needs to align with the PUMP Act’s protections. Learn more

DEI budgets are shrinking—but inclusion is built on actions, not programs. Many companies are cutting #DEI initiatives. But an inclusive workplace isn’t about programs—it’s about policies and daily practices that support all employees. Lactation accommodations aren’t just a compliance issue; they are a direct reflection of a company’s commitment to inclusion. ? Are breastfeeding employees given the time and space they need? ? Do managers understand their legal obligations under the PUMP Act? ? Does your company actively support working parents beyond compliance? ? Companies that prioritize real, structural inclusivity will retain top talent and foster a culture where employees feel valued. Make sure your policies reflect your commitment. Last week, I took my first business trip since welcoming my daughter, Olivia, in December. As my husband and I planned how I would pump and transport breast milk home, we discovered Milk Stork—a game-changer for traveling, nursing moms. Milk Stork offers convenient options to safely ship breast milk home after pumping on your trip, which eliminated so much stress for me and allowed me to focus fully on work. For any employer with a nursing employee making the sacrifice to travel for business, I highly recommend providing this resource. It’s expensive (not going to lie), but one that makes a real difference for the employee. This isn’t an ad/not sponsored, just super impressed with the service!

Skipping lactation accommodations isn’t a minor oversight—it can be a serious liability. Companies that fail to comply with the PUMP Act won’t just pay in court—they’ll pay in lost talent and reputation. Protect your business and your employees. The PUMP Act is here, and non-compliance isn’t an option. If your company is enforcing return-to-office policies, ask if you're providing: Private, non-bathroom lactation spaces? Adequate, flexible break time? Training to managers on lactation policies? Clearly communicated and accessible lactation policies? If any of these raise concerns, it’s time to act. Our guide "RTO and the Pump Act: What You Need to Know in 2025" breaks down everything you need to know to protect your company and support your breastfeeding employees. Supporting working parents = retaining top talent Working parents already face enough challenges—don’t let your return-to-office policy make it worse. Without proper lactation accommodations, breastfeeding employees are forced to choose between their careers and their families. No company can afford to be the reason they walk away. Companies that support working parents see higher retention, stronger engagement, and a more inclusive culture. Kate Torgersen's belief that parents shouldn’t have to choose between their careers and their families is the #1 reason I choose to come to Milk Stork. She understands that it not only is the right thing to do but it drives better business outcomes. And this isn't just me on my soapbox again, the proof is in the data. Post maternal retention improves from 59% to 94% for employees at companies with lactation support programs (link to data in the comments thanks to my friends at Moms First). The #RTO wave is here. Parents are scrambling and its detracting from their productivity. Is your company supporting your postpartum parents? Milk Stork is here to help make life a *little* easier for the lactating parents. Let's chat about it today! Over the past few months, we’ve seen a troubling trend—companies scaling back or cutting DEI programs altogether. As a business leader and a working mom, this isn’t just disappointing—it’s a step backward for all working parents, especially those juggling the invisible labor of caregiving on top of demanding careers. Milk Stork exists because I lived this firsthand—showing up 110% at work while navigating the relentless demands of parenthood. Pumping every few hours. Coordinating childcare. Managing business travel. Having to prove, day after day, that you can be both a high-performing professional and an engaged parent. Now, with RTO mandates in full swing, the challenges are piling up. Parents are scrambling for childcare solutions, searching for private pumping spaces, and trying to balance feeding schedules—all while readjusting to office life. And yet, companies need these employees. Parents bring unmatched resilience, efficiency, and problem-solving skills to the workplace. ?? To help companies navigate this transition, our team put together “RTO and the PUMP Act: What You Need to Know in 2025”— this guide provides actionable steps to help workplaces comply with new pumping laws and set their employees up for success. While some organizations are pulling back on support for working parents, Milk Stork isn’t going anywhere. We’re standing firm in our support of breastfeeding and pumping parents—and we’re proud to partner with employers that prioritize working parents and create environments where they can thrive. Parents shouldn’t have to choose between their careers and their families. Let’s build workplaces that support both—when working parents thrive, companies do too. https://lnkd.in/gjgexu3T #RTO #DEI #breastfeedingsupport #hr #workingmom #workingparents

Don’t you wish there was a script for how to talk about pumping and breastfeeding at work? Managers stumble through conversations, employees aren’t sure how to ask for accommodations. Why? Because no one talks about it. And when something is rarely discussed, it becomes uncomfortable by default. But avoiding the conversation leads to stigma, confusion, or even lost talent. Here’s the fix: Normalize the conversation. Training, messaging, and ready-to-use templates (like those provided to Milk Stork clients in your HR Toolkit) take the guesswork out—so everyone feels informed and supported. ?? Train managers to handle lactation requests professionally and supportively. ?? Ensure workplace messaging is clear, consistent, and stigma-free. ?? Openly share lactation policies and accommodations with everyone, not just pumping employees. The more we talk about it, the easier it gets—and the more employees feel empowered to use the support available to them. #RTO #breastfeeding #DEI #normalizepumping
