The Milk Processor Education Program (“MilkPEP”), based in Washington, D.C. and funded by the nation’s Milk companies, is dedicated to identifying meaningful consumer and shopper insights regarding the benefits of fluid milk and amplifying them to consumers through creative marketing and educational initiatives with the goal of increasing consumption of fluid Milk. MilkPEP activities are led by a 20-member board and monitored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service. MilkPEP’s robust campaign efforts aim to increase awareness of Milk’s nutritional benefits and safeguard Milk’s reputation against competitive claims and anti-Milk messages that impact Consumers’ purchasing decisions. You may know them for their “Got Milk?” campaign or more recent groundbreaking programs such as: You’re Gonna Need Milk for That, a long-term, multi-million-dollar, omni-channel program that leverages milk’s well-known nutritional benefits in new, modern ways to inspire modern families and their children to choose milk more often for hydration, muscle building, wellness and more.

    On September 6, Cravings by Chrissy Teigen and MilkPEP hosted a “Back to School” Carnival for Moms & Kids to come together and celebrate this momentous time of year – live from Chrissy Teigen & John Legend’s home in Los Angeles, CA. ???? Dairy milk was present in a big way with a “Frosty Funhouse” milkshake tent, a milk bottle ring toss, and milk mocktails.     Last week, MilkPEP’s Kikke Riedel sat on an immersive panel titled “From Resistance to Resilience: Strategies for Analytic Adoption” at Analytic Partners' 2024 North Star event in Nashville, TN. The panel discussed hurdles faced by panelists and the best practices they implemented to drive analytic adoption across their organizations. In addition, MilkPEP received “The Evangelizer” award – honoring an organization who has set the bar for marketing, using analytics to create business value for their audiences.     MilkPEP is partnering with Dairy Management Inc. to amplify the important role of milk (and dairy) for early brain development during the critical period between conception and a child's 2nd birthday. Milk provides 7 of the 14 nutrients identified by the American Academy of Pediatrics as critical building blocks for brain development, including iodine and vitamin B12. ??     Whether you’re a regular gamer (or haven’t played one since Nintendo Game Boy first launched), this #NationalVideoGameDay, don’t be surprised if you see cows and dairy farmers on your next click. Voices in the dairy industry like our friends at Dairy MAX Inc. and MilkPEP are entering the gaming world reaching Gen Z and millennials where they’re at — through video games. Dairy MAX partnered to create a video game mode where you can assume the role of a dairy farmer and build your own virtual farm on Fortnite?’s Farm Tycoon, and MilkPEP is sponsoring the first-ever #MilkCup trophy, where trios of the best women-only Fortnite players will attempt to outlast one another, over four events, on Saturday, Oct. 5. Earlier this year, we jumped into the gaming world with a fun retro 8-bit game where players drove a milk tanker, collecting cow pies and food scraps to power up and earn points — all while learning about our farmers' dedication to the environment. The game was a big hit! Nearly 50,000 people visited our site and more than 240,000 joined in on the fun. Almost half of the players came back to play again! Video games are an unexpected new world for dairy farmers to connect with people and teach them where their food comes from. “Games provide a window into the world of dairy farming,” says DFA farmer-owner and Dairy MAX board member Ryan Schapp. “By meeting them where they are, we’re excited to get young gamers connected to the dairy industry and teach them what we proudly provide for them.” Dairy MAX is also partnering with well-known esports athletes to share how dairy fuels their competitive gaming experience on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and Twitch. “Dairy and gaming might not seem like a natural fit, but we are making connections that will impact the industry for generations,” Ryan says. An avid gamer himself, Ryan favors Fortnite and was instrumental in helping playtest the dairy farming mode of Fortnite’s Farm Tycoon expansion. So, remember the next time you power on, a dairy farmer just might be your player two. We are #DFAProud of our farmer-owners, who level up with technology for the benefit of their family farms and the future of the industry. We hope to see more new and exciting means of sharing all the possibilities of dairy with every generation.
