But here’s the big question: If the UK can do it, why can’t the US? Right now, the US CBD industry exists in a regulatory gray area. No clear federal guidelines, no uniform safety standards—just a patchwork of state-by-state rules that leave businesses and consumers guessing. Meanwhile, global markets like the UK, Japan, and the EU are setting the bar high. So, where does that leave us? Do we keep waiting for change, or do we take the lead? A recent study from Yale University highlights that cannabinoids like CBD, CBG, and CBN can inhibit the Nav1.8 protein, a key player in pain signaling, without inducing psychoactive effects. Notably, CBG demonstrated the most potent effect in this regard. This underscores the importance of recognizing that while multiple cannabinoids may target the same therapeutic area, their efficacy and effects can vary significantly. For instance, while both CBD and CBG influence pain pathways, CBG exhibits a stronger inhibition of the Nav1.8 protein. The difference between THC's psychoactive and CBD's lack thereof is one of the most extreme differences, but in our pre-clinical research at FloraWorks, this is a prominent factor observed. These variations highlight the necessity for in-depth research to understand each cannabinoid's unique properties. Such knowledge will enable the development of targeted therapies that leverage the most suitable cannabinoid for specific conditions, optimizing wellness outcomes. As we continue to explore the therapeutic potential of cannabinoids, it's crucial to appreciate their distinct characteristics and tailor treatments and, most importantly, product development accordingly.
