Earlier this week, Milbank partner Gurbir Grewal delivered the 2024 Frank H. Menaker Corporate Integrity & Ethics Lecture at the American University Washington College of Law. The lecture honors the legacy of Frank Menaker, who served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Lockheed Martin, among other roles, and was responsible for creating one of the earliest and most robust corporate compliance and ethics frameworks. During his lecture, Gurbir drew on his nearly two decades of experience as a prosecutor and regulator, and shared his observations regarding the major corporate scandals and frauds of that period, including a number that he investigated, the negative impact they have had on the public’s trust and confidence in our markets, and strategies to effect proactive compliance.?
The 2024 Frank H. Menaker Corporate Integrity & Ethics Lecture, featuring valuable insights from Gurbir S. Grewal, former SEC Division of Enforcement Director and New Jersey Attorney General, was a great success. The timely discussion on corporate integrity and ethical practices sparked thoughtful questions and engaged a diverse audience of business, legal, and public sector professionals, as well as AUWCL students and alumni, underscoring the relevance of these critical issues. Part of AUWCL's Anti-Corruption Law Program, which also includes the Anti-Corruption?Law?Summer Program,?offering intensive courses each June for professionals combating corruption in the U.S. and abroad, the Menaker Lecture series continues to promote integrity and ethics in the corporate world.
