Sue Gilbertson, our founder, was a mother who felt unheard and unsupported when her son Eric was diagnosed with a mental illness. She quickly realized that the traditional medical and mental health systems were not equipped to provide the care and support her son needed. ?? 38 years later, honoring Sue's legacy, we continue to provide family-centered support, advocacy, education, and resources to families of children with mental health challenges. ?? ???? One mother's passion now serves as a lifeline for families across our community. We take pride in our history and remain committed to ensuring that no family faces mental health challenges alone.?? ?? Sue Gilbertson founded M.I.K.I.D. through grassroots efforts on March 11, 1987, with a mission to address the critical gap in services available to children facing mental health challenges. ?? ?? Sue set out to provide families with the tools, knowledge, and support they needed. From the beginning, our organization focused on a family-centered approach, understanding that a child's mental health journey impacts the whole family. ???????? ??
