I'm running for Mayor to bring strong, decisive, effective, unifying and experienced leadership to a city facing its toughest challenges in decades. Our city is in crisis. It is moments like these that define who we are. Time and again I have exhibited transformative leadership when the chips were down, tackling complex problems with practical solutions. The key question voters must decide in this election is this: Who has the record and executive experience in Los Angeles to shake up the status quo and take the action we need on Day 1? Our next Mayor must prioritize the top issues on our agenda or risk diffusing the focus we need on our most pressing matters. That means riveting ourselves on homelessness, public safety, affordability, economic recovery and bringing more equity into our City. I have detailed plans on each of these matters and present them throughout my responses to this questionnaire. You will note my plans are specific, like my proposal to create one million additional hours of neighborhood cleanup and beautification efforts—and help fund the program by re-evaluating the sources of Council members’ discretionary funds.
