MAVTI ACT Meeting Attendees, Auto theft investigators! Join us for the next meeting of the Anti-Car Theft (ACT) Committee on Thursday, March 20, 2025 starting at 1 PM. We will meet at the Novi PD Training Center, 45125 Ten Mile Rd., Novi (just west of Novi Road). These meetings are designed for communication and collaboration between the insurance industry, law enforcement, prosecutors and others engaged in the fight against auto theft and fraud. Looking to obtain your CIFI certification? You’re in LUCK! The MI IASIU Chapter is hosting an in person CIFI only testing session on April 29, 2025 and November 20, 2025 at Frankenmuth Insurance. Shades of Pink is a Michigan based non-profit specifically designed to help defer the costs individuals suffering from Breast Cancer face. Every year more than 8,000 Michigan residents are diagnosed with breast cancer, 3,200 will face significant difficulty paying healthcare costs, 2,460 will have problems affording necessary cancer medications, forcing 1,840 patients to cut pills in half or skip doses. 2,000 will use up all their person savings for medical bills and 800 will be forced to file for bankruptcy. Grants from Shades of Pink cover the everyday living expenses that aren’t covered by most other support organizations, including rent/mortgage payments, utilities, childcare, food assistance, breast cancer support equipment, hospital co-pays, medication costs, and transportation costs, back credit card payments, and any other bill a family not in treatment might have. Don't miss your chance to recognize your fraud fighting peers for their accomplishments. Nominate them for one of the highly prestigious IASIU Awards. ? The awards are given on an annual basis to individuals who have displayed outstanding investigative services to their individual organizations, as well as to the industry as a whole. The seven award categories include: ? - Investigator of the Year - Analyst of the Year - Anti-Fraud Insurance Professional of the Year - Public Service - Outstanding Service - Multi-Jurisdictional Investigative Excellence Award - Chapter of the Year - SIU Leader of the Year ? Factors considered in the selection of the winners include the impact of the investigation to the individual’s special investigation unit, their company and the insurance industry. Also considered are the positive effects the investigation has on the outside community, as well as the exceptional qualities of the investigation. ? Nominations are received from various sources including peers, supervisors and other sources within the SIU community. An individual, as well as their organization, should consider the nomination to be a significant honor, representing the hard work of the individual and the support of their respective company in the continual fight against insurance fraud. ?
