On Veterans Day, we recognize and honor the dedication of our military service members and veterans—including those who continue to serve in new ways, like Midwest Transplant Network Ambassador Fred Harper. Fred, a proud Marine Corps veteran, left college to join the U.S. Marine Corps, where he found purpose in service and the camaraderie of his fellow Marines. Today, as part of MTN’s Ambassador team, Fred brings that same spirit to our mission of saving and healing lives through organ, eye, and tissue donation. Inspired by donor heroes and recipients within his own circle, he remains committed to giving back to others. Fred’s journey reminds us that the values of service, honor, and community extend beyond military duty—they impact and inspire our entire community. This Veterans Day, we express our heartfelt gratitude to Fred and all who serve. #GiveHopeShareLife

Midwest Transplant Network staff includes health care professionals from various backgrounds, including respiratory care. In recognition of Respiratory Care Week, Oct. 20-26, we are thankful for our staff whose clinical expertise in cardiopulmonary systems means they can effectively assess the potential for an organ donor and provide highly skilled donor patient care. Their work is important to the mission of organ, eye and tissue donation and important to what we do every day for donor heroes. Thanks for all you do! #GiveHopeShareLife

Midwest Transplant Network is proud to partner with the University of Kansas Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences! Recently, students from the CLS program had the incredible opportunity to tour our laboratory and spend time with our talented MTN lab team. During the visit, they learned firsthand about the critical role laboratory testing plays in organ and bone marrow transplantation, supporting the gift of life. Our laboratory is on track to have another record-breaking year in the number of tests performed, directly supporting our local transplant centers and helping save lives every day. Thank you to these future healthcare professionals for your passion and dedication! Together, we are helping to #GiveHopeShareLife

This morning, the Midwest Transplant Network team came together for our quarterly Town Hall, centered around the theme Show Your Heart. We introduced new members of the MTN family, heard touching stories from employee tissue recipients, shared important updates from each department, and most importantly, honored this quarter’s donor heroes whose life-saving gifts continue to inspire us all. It was heartwarming to see our team proudly wearing heart-themed shirts and bringing meaningful items that are close to their hearts, demonstrating our commitment to the mission we hold dear. #GiveHopeShareLife

Our Family Services Coordinator, John Michael Segars, Pharm.D., had the honor of moderating a session at the 32nd Annual Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation (AMAT) Conference in San Diego. John Michael Segars led the session, "Culture Shifts and Vulnerability: Support in Communities Starts at Home." This session emphasized the importance of learning culture at home and embracing differences, creating inclusive spaces in the workplace and bringing more LGBTQIA+ voices into the donation and transplantation industry narrative. We're proud to be part of this important movement, ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard in our mission to save lives through organ donation. Also pictured are Midge Dempsey (Family Services II), John Michael Segars (Family Services III), Lisa Tebb MSN (Ed), PN, RN (Hospital Services III), and Salama Gallimore (In-House Counsel)—our MTN team members who attended the conference to learn more about how we can better serve diverse communities. #GiveHopeShareLife

A powerful message from Dr. Michael Moncure on the life-saving impact of organ donation and the importance of diversity in health care. Dr. Moncure, trauma and critical care surgeon at University Health KC and Administrative Medical Director at Midwest Transplant Network, shares his experiences and the challenges of addressing the critical shortage of organ donors, particularly in diverse communities. In his op-ed that appeared this week in The Community VOICE, he emphasizes the need for transparency, trust and advocacy to overcome the deep-seated mistrust in health care that affects Black, Hispanic, Native American, Asian, and Pacific Islander communities. He also reflects on his journey in organ donation advocacy, inspired by his mentor, Dr. Clive O. Callender, MD, a pioneer in transplant education and outreach, who we featured earlier this month. #GiveHopeShareLife Dr. Moncure's full op-ed can be read here:?https://lnkd.in/gmkuqve2
