We are thrilled to have our team representing Midwest Transplant Network at this year's The Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation (AMAT) Conference, themed "Empower, Engage, Elevate: Fostering an Inclusive Donation and Transplant Community." Our very own Salama Gallimore, General Counsel and Advisor on Governmental Affairs, along with attorney Jeff Hochstetler, co-presented the powerful session, "Equity in Transplantation: Recent Oversight Updates." During this plenary session, Gallimore discussed recent litigation and OPTN/UNOS policy revisions enacted to address discrimination against Black American patients awaiting transplants, and she reviewed proposed changes to the HOPE Act targeted to increase the number of organs available for transplant in HIV+ patients. MTN is proud to contribute to this important conversation on diversity, equity, and inclusion in transplantation, working to ensure that all communities have access to life-saving care. #GiveHopeShareLife #AMAT2024?

Andrea, a Quality Assurance Coordinator, joined MTN as a temp but quickly found a permanent home here. As a bone graft recipient, she’s passionate about organ donation and helping support healthy tissue donation every day. ?? ?? When she’s not at work, Andrea stays busy with her kids, their soccer games, and the occasional Hobby Lobby spree. Check out her full story in our Employee Spotlight! #GiveHopeShareLife Read more: https://bit.ly/3MDvWbk

Through the incredible generosity of donor heroes and their families, the gift of life continues in our communities. In August, 126 lifesaving gifts from 41 donor heroes were given to people waiting for an organ transplant. We are grateful to the donors and families who said “yes” to donation, and to our hospital partners and MTN staff who are dedicated to the mission of saving and enhancing lives. #GiveHopeShareLife
