MMEC CTO Dr. Matt Casto had a great discussion about how the CHIPS Act is "Pushing Silicon Valley Inland". It's a great listen to understand where the MMEC is influencing microelectronics development in the US. Thanks Tom Temin and Federal News Network for providing a platform for this information! https://lnkd.in/grR35ZwB

We look forward to working with Keysight to provide capabilities to our hub members! https://lnkd.in/g-tM8wkb
We are proud to announce we have reached an agreement to provide our #electronic design automation (EDA) software to six of the eight hubs participating in the Microelectronics Commons (Commons). The Commons, created in 2023 under the United States’ CHIPS and Science Act, is part of a $2 billion, four-year initiative aimed at accelerating domestic #microelectronics hardware prototyping and workforce development. This Veteran's Day we are proud to spotlight one of our MMEC members Vets to Drones. "I am honored to announce Vets to Drones' involvement in the American CHIPs Act a workforce development partner for the Midwest Microelectronics Consortium (MMEC). This initiative will ensure veterans across the US are aware of the opportunities to achieve gainful employment in the American microelectronics and semiconductor industries, securing 21st Century jobs for those who served our Nation at times of peace and during times of war. We are proud to be a part of this historic initiative and look forward to introducing MMEC Partners to the men and women who served our grateful nation. The timing of our workforce development mission has fallen within difficult times for the local communities of Western NC. Vets to Drones has deployed several of its members to the devastated areas of Appalachia over the past 6 weeks. Our efforts began on September 28th?by using thermal capable UAS to conduct search and rescue operations across Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. UAS technology had a heavy presence across the region for scouting of damaged infrastructure to delivering goods to families cut off due to bridge collapses from the flooding. Our second wave of responders landed in Spruce Pine, NC on October 4th?and started flying scouting and mapping missions of the devastated areas. The data collected was used by locals, volunteers and the US Army's 27th?ESB to deploy heavy equipment assets more efficiently across the region. Since Title X ended, we have continued our UAS missions by mapping and scouting the region further, and by collecting critical details needed to shift our efforts from the recovery process to rebuilding.?With the support of the local Appalachian Community, we have formed the Appalachian Rebuild Project to ensure this wonderful region of North Carolina utilizes as many local resources as possible to maintain its cultural heritage and reinvigorate the local economy." - Chris Lewis, Founder/CEO Donate to Vets to Drones:?https://lnkd.in/euK9Kzqf

We are proud to announce the award of funding to execute the Cross Hub Enablement Solution (CHES) to provide cost-effective access to a secure and scalable platform of EDA tools. CHES will be utilized by 6 of the 8 Microelectronics Commons technology hubs and their members: MMEC, CA Dreams, NEMC, NORDTECH, NW-AI, and SWAP. This program includes a variety of vendors who have worked very hard to define and provide resources critical to the success of this effort. They include: Nimbis, Microsoft, Synopsys, Cadence, Ansys, Siemens, and Keysight. MMEC will manage this effort, establish contracts, and acquire products and services. We believe this will be a game changing offering for the benefit of hub members and will accelerate our lab-to-fab-to-mission and market goals. https://lnkd.in/gUa2jSFz
