Have you ever wondered what "20/20 vision" actually means? The term is used to describe normal visual acuity, measured at a distance of 20 feet. The first "20" refers to the distance from the eye chart during a vision test. The second "20" indicates what a person with average eyesight should be able to read at that distance. So, if you have 20/30 vision, you can only read a line at 20 feet away what average people can read at 30 feet away. The more you know! #bloomington #bloomingtonindiana #eyecare #eyehealth

Let's talk about macular degeneration. Macular degeneration is a leading cause of low vision, particularly in older adults. The condition can make it difficult to read, recognize faces, or perform tasks requiring close focus. Fortunately, there is help. Your regular eye doctor will recommend and prescribe specific vitamins, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications in order to slow the progression of macular degeneration. Your low vision doctor will fit you with special glasses or devices that can help you regain lost functional vision.
