Thank you to Chicagoland Food & Beverage Network's Alan Reed for hosting today's webinar, "CFBN 2025: What to Expect in Hiring and Staffing"! The panelists shared tips for both job seekers and hiring managers in Chicago's food & beverage industry. I've summarized tips for job seekers from James Cracknell (The Sterling Choice), Pat Greco (GSI Family Office), Carl Guastaferro (McCormick & Company), and RJ Parrilli (Midway Staffing). ??????????????: Include achievements (tangible), not just a list of responsibilities What have you delivered on and achieved? Include all of your education. Make sure that keywords are clearly listed. ???????????????? ??????????????: Make sure it is up-to-date and complete. Include desired geographic regions and job titles you are interested in. As Alan said, "Your LinkedIn is your living and breathing resume." ???????????????????? ?????? ???????????? ???????? ???? ??????????????????: Leverage your network. Develop a list of target companies. Find hiring managers/decision makers on LinkedIn. Connect with talent acquisition (recruiters) on LinkedIn. Think of hiring companies, not specific job postings. Not all jobs are advertised. Through networking, you may find out about a job opening before it gets posted. ????????????????????????: Prepare for both technical and soft skills questions. Demonstrate that you are coachable, adaptable, eager to learn new skills, and a team player. Tell interviewer how you have learned new things in the past. Show that you are open to new roles and wiling to train, learn, and to adapt to this company's culture. ???????????????????? ????????????: Be prepared for background checks on prior education and employment history. ????: Candidates who know how to use AI effectively will stand out. At the same time, need a human touch. Using AI can create more professional, grammatically correct resumes. But DO NOT allow generative AI to embellish your resume and include qualifications, experience, skills, and knowledge that you do not have. One panelist stated: "In job screenings using AI will smoke you out". ???? ?????? ???????? ????????????????: There are a lot of fluctuations in schedule. Be prepared for overtime and weekend work in light industrial jobs. ???????????????????? ????????: Be prepared to discuss cross-functional experiences. In technical roles, be prepared to discuss soft skills in the screening interview - how they would do in a conflict resolution. Personality and fit with the company culture is important: 50% experience, 50% personality. Having ability to speak to senior levels and programming & data analytics skills can be beneficial for certain non-tech roles. ???????????? ???????? ?? ?????????????? ???? ?? ???????? ?????????????????????? ??????????????: People with startup experience are viewed as all-hands-on-deck, roll-up-your-sleeves, more well-rounded. But focus on the role you're applying to. Look at new product departments and innovation departments.

As the beginning of March signifies Spring is coming, we want to reflect back on the great start we’ve had at Midway Staffing and our other entities, Trova Advisory Group Lavoro Services Corp and MedOP Solutions so far! This year started with a kick-off party in January where we “Launched our Legacy into 2025”! ?? Bringing all of our employees from our different brands together from all over the country and Mexico, we learned what each other’s personal core values were along with what motivated us. It was a night of connection, food and just fun! We hope these pictures reflect that! Following that was a kick-off employee meeting in February where we delved deeper into our plan for 2025 and how we, as an organization, will be working together to achieve our goals set for this year. ??
