Midmark proudly participated in the Women in STEMM Expo at Edison State Community College! Our engineering team led hands-on breakout sessions where young women in grades 8-12 tackled a unique challenge: designing a "Winter Wonderland" house strong enough to withstand an avalanche, a Yeti attack and heavy snowfall. These future innovators impressed us with their creativity and problem-solving skills, all while meeting specific design and testing requirements. Afterward, we showcased Midmark’s innovative products at a career demonstration table, giving students an up-close look at the meaningful work we do right here in their community. As often happened in the 1950s, even during peacetime, Jim Eiting, Midmark Chair Emeritus, was called up to the armed services, leaving on October 15, 1958, for a six-month stint in South Carolina. During his service, Jim demonstrated his commitment to his country, honing skills that would later prove invaluable in his professional career. Upon returning, he quickly resumed his work at Industrial Equipment (now Midmark Corporation) in our engineering department, bringing a sense of discipline and dedication gained from his time in the military.
