?? This Women’s History Month, we’re highlighting the women who lead, innovate, and inspire change. Today, we recognize Sheriff Mildred S. Scott, a true trailblazer in Middlesex County. With a career that began in 1968, she broke barriers, becoming the first female Chief Sheriff Officer in 1991. In 2011, she became the first female and first African American Sheriff of Middlesex County. Under her leadership, she transformed the Sheriff’s Office with advancements in security, technology, and community outreach. Her efforts led to NJSCOP Accreditation for the department and innovative programs that continue to make Middlesex County safer and stronger. Her unwavering commitment to public safety, innovation, and community engagement has left an incredible legacy—one that continues to make Middlesex County safer and stronger. ?? Yolanda’s leadership in the legal community is unmatched, having served as an advisor to the Narcotics and Gambling Task Force and leading the Hate Crimes Task Force. ?? This Women's History Month, we’re celebrating the women who lead, innovate, and inspire change in Middlesex County. Throughout March, we’ll be highlighting remarkable women whose work is truly history worth framing. ??? Today, we are proud to spotlight Nancy J. Pinkin, who was sworn in as Middlesex County Clerk on January 1, 2021. Before stepping into this important role, Clerk Pinkin served four terms as a New Jersey State Assembly Representative for Legislative District 18. Her tenure in the Assembly was marked by significant contributions to public policy, from championing laws to reduce solitary confinement in correctional facilities to expanding access to palliative care for those with terminal illnesses. She was a staunch advocate for environmental justice, spearheading initiatives to promote renewable energy, ban plastic bags and polystyrene, and improve water safety. In addition, Clerk Pinkin worked tirelessly to advance policies to protect women’s health, increase domestic violence awareness, and support victims of sexual assault. As a legislator, she was the driving force behind progressive reforms that have left a lasting impact on the community and the state. Clerk Pinkin's leadership exemplifies dedication, innovation, and service. We are grateful for her ongoing work and proud to celebrate her achievements this Women’s History Month.
