Please join us in congratulating our August Employee of the Month - Case Manager Martha Newsham. A 26-year veteran of the MSO, Martha was recently assigned the case of a pre-trial detainee with severe mental and physical limitations that were preventing him from getting into a typical residential treatment program. The detainee’s attorney was at a loss as what to do, but Martha stepped up and tackled the case head-on, making weekly visits to the individual to keep him constantly updated. Martha’s professionalism and persistence paid off when – after repeatedly being turned down – she was able to secure a successful placement and work with his attorney to get court-ordered transportation for the individual. According to the detainee’s attorney: “This was the result of Martha Newsham’s great work in coming up with ideas... Three hospitals and an LMHC [Licensed Mental Health Counselor] tried the same previously, but Martha was the one who came through.” As the go-to person for new hires and interns, she is also an inspiration and mentor for her colleagues. “It is obvious when speaking to her that she truly enjoys and believes in the work she is doing and her attitude is contagious amongst her peers,” wrote one colleague. For her incredible work and unwavering professionalism, Martha Newsham is recognized as our August 2024 Employee of the Month. #WeAreTheMSO
