Yesterday Middlesex Assistant District Attorney Alyssa Mongroo, Esq. participated in a "More Than Mock" Trial at Suffolk University Law School to provide law students and young attorneys with an example of a realistic and fast-paced criminal trial.

Last week, some of our ADAs, including Laura Miller, Carrie Spiros, David Witter, Nick Pisegna, Maryrose Robson, and Whitney Williams, helped judge a mock trial at Harvard Law School. Middlesex ADAs David Yasinovsky and Chichi Lee are also advisors for the team. The students were very impressive and it was a privilege to provide feedback to these future trial attorneys.

We're hiring for the role of financial investigator. The primary goal of the financial investigator is to identify, investigate, and develop financial fraud and other economic crime prosecutions from the intake stage to the trial stage while working closely with the assigned Assistant District Attorney as well as state and local police officers and state agencies. MDAO prosecutors supporting RESPOND, Inc. at their 50th Anniversary Gala in Cambridge. RESPOND has provided life-saving shelter, housing options, support services, training and education programs to community members for over 50 years. Our partnerships with organizations like RESPOND are critical in empowering victims and survivors and working to prevent domestic violence.

Last week, our 2024 class of Assistant District Attorneys visited the More Than Words book store in Waltham to learn firsthand about how the organization empowers system-involved youth to work hard, set goals, and learn critical skills that set them up for success in the future. The More Than Words visit is an important part of training our new Assistant District Attorneys because the Office refers youth to their programming through the Juvenile Young Adult Diversion Program.

Congratulations to Middlesex Assistant District Attorney Carrie Spiros on being admitted to the American College of Trial Lawyers last month. This week our staff joined in celebrating Cultural Diversity Day in Somerville District Court. The event is part of the Massachusetts Trial Court’s 8th?Annual Cultural Appreciation Week.
