The power of international education- by creating meaningful interfaith- intercultural dialogue between students, in these times of tension. Credit to the visionary co-organizers who made this happen. Middle-Meets Elitzur Bar-Asher
As Pope Francis enters the eleventh day of his hospitalization for what the Vatican (Vaticano) describes as "a complex lung infection that has provoked the early stages of kidney failure," we wish him a speedy recovery and take a moment to reflect on the power of dialogue and connection. Earlier this month, young leaders from Muslim, Jewish, and Christian traditions gathered at the Vatican for Meaning Meets Us—an interfaith initiative co-organized by Middle-Meets at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv University, Scholas Occurrentes, University of Meaning, and the University of Notre Dame. Against the backdrop of today’s global tensions, these students came together to listen, share, and build a path toward mutual understanding. A highlight of the event was a meeting with Pope Francis, where participants presented their insights on fostering respectful discourse in divided societies. As Professor Elitzur Bar-Asher Siegal of Hebrew University put it: "While academia today struggles to find the balance between freedom of expression and respectful dialogue, between silencing and protecting rights, this project seeks to remind us that academia should be a space for honest, analytical discourse grounded in knowledge." The moments shared at the Vatican reflect the impact of open, meaningful conversations across faiths. Watch the video to see highlights from this inspiring gathering. ??
