MAREC Action (MAREC informally stands for “Mid-Atlantic Renewable Energy Coalition”) is a 501 c(4) non-profit of utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage developers, wind turbine and solar panel manufacturers, dedicated to promoting the growth and development of renewable energy in the Mid-Atlantic region. Our mission is to enhance the opportunities for renewable energy development in ten jurisdictions in the PJM region in and around the Mid-Atlantic, specifically: Delaware, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. We provide education and expertise on the economic benefits and environmental sustainability of solar and wind energy; offer technical expertise and advice on operating and integrating solar and wind into the power grid; and promote fair policies, rules, and regulations to expand the region’s electric transmission system to accommodate the growth of renewable energy and energy storage.

Earlier this week we joined American Clean Power Association (ACP) in Dover, Delaware to meet with legislators and the new Office of Delaware Governor Matt Meyer staff. The topic of conversation was solar siting reform and how #renewableenergy can mitigate recent electricity price hikes. Thanks Alexandra Shull McKitrick Compass Advocacy for organizing the meetings on our behalf.

Today MAREC Action is in Maryland for another lobby day. Our focus is on the #energystorage provisions of the Abundant Affordable Clean Energy Action (HB 398, SB316) Delegate Lorig Charkoudian and Senator Benjamin Brooks. Maryland has a robust pipeline of projects in the near term PJM queue that require a formal program (front-of-the-meter transmission connected storage program) to spur construction. Invenergy The AES Corporation RWE REV Renewables all stand ready to build projects. Can we get them over the finish line? For more on the importance of storage in Maryland check out our fact sheet below - https://lnkd.in/ezDbAqTW
