Endeavor Health Services provides holistic, innovative, and evidence based treatment for those struggling with emotional concerns, life struggles, mental health issues, and addiction. We also offer a wealth of educational and support services in our community. We know that people struggling with mental illness can, and do, recover when provided with the right treatment and support. Endeavor is a public service, not-for-profit corporation dedicated to the development and maintenance of a comprehensive system of accessible and effective services dedicated towards improving the emotional wellness and behavioral health of residents of Western New York. Following incorporation on December 23, 1972 as Mid-Erie Mental Health Services, Inc., a community Board of Directors was selected and convened. In April of 1973, the first Executive Director, Dr. Albert Zavala and twelve staff began the initial service delivery. Endeavor has since been served by the following Executive Directors: Dr. George Dietz (1977-1986), Michael Venezia (1986-1999), Sarlyn Tate (1999 to 2006), Elizabeth Mauro (2006 to present). The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) hosted its?annual Out of Darkness Walk at Canalside on Saturday, September 21, 2024, which raised awareness, gathered funds, and provided support to those affected by suicide. Endeavor was there to help spread awareness and convey the message that suicide can be prevented?and that no one has to face it alone. Endeavor Health Services?held its Annual Breakfast & Baskets Fundraising Event on Friday, September 20, 2024,?from 8 am – 10 am at the AcQua Restaurant and Banquets at 2192 Niagara Street in Buffalo. It was a fun morning filled with basket raffles, silent and live auctions, community stories, a door prize, and fine food! This year’s event featured Jillian Hanesworth, the first poet laureate of Buffalo, who performed an original work dedicated to Endeavor and its role in our community. From Jillian’s poem – “We promote wellness and the importance of quality mental health. Striving for equity because all people are entitled to support.” EAST (Encourage, Assist, Support, Together) Haven, a community program of Endeavor, will receive?funds raised at this year’s event. EAST Haven provides walk-in services for individuals in distress, clubhouse programs, and community whole-person health screenings at partner agencies. #EndeavorHealthServices #BreakfastandBaskets #JillianHanesworth #EASTHaven?
