We enjoy shining a light on the fabulous people who serve MAAM! Congratulations to Amanda Dunyak Gillen, MAAM Vice President, on her new role at The Frick!
We're thrilled to have Amanda Dunyak Gillen as our Interim Executive Director! If you're a regular Frick visitor, you likely already know Amanda! She's served in various capacities for over 20 years, most recently as Director of Learning & Visitor Experience. “I am honored to have the opportunity to work with my very talented colleagues in this new role, as we continue to welcome and serve visitors by presenting exciting exhibitions, thoughtful historical interpretation, and high-quality programing," Amanda says. "My career at the Frick has been endlessly interesting and rewarding, and I am thrilled to put my experience to use in supporting this valuable museum in its continued growth and success." Last Call! Nominations for the Building Museums? Symposium 2025 Buildy Awards are due November 7. This prestigious honor recognizes outstanding recent museum building projects. If you’ve been involved in a transformative project, we want to hear from you! Here’s what past winner said about their experience: "The Buildy award was The Peale's first national award for the renovations of our 1814 building – the first museum built in the Americas. Importantly, the award also recognized our apprenticeship program in the historic preservation trades, which began with the renovations and is central to our ongoing efforts to diversify the workforce in the cultural sector. I really appreciated that the awards committee organized such a thoughtful panel session about our projects at the 2024 Building Museums conference. I loved getting to hear about the MIT Museum’s project and share more details about ours as well. We’ve enjoyed all the feedback and new connections as a result of the award!" ~Nancy Proctor, Chief Strategy Officer, The Peale Apply now and join a community of change makers! https://shorturl.at/4gkq9

Sponsor spotlight: We want to thank The Cooperstown Graduate Program for their continued support of the Annual Meeting! Learn more about CGP: The Cooperstown Graduate Program is proud to be like no other. We train creative, entrepreneurial museum leaders committed to generating programs and services for the public good. Our students learn by doing tangible, useful work on real-world projects. They dedicate themselves to developing institutions that play a central role in their communities, encouraging broad public audiences to use artifacts and the study of science, art, and history as a catalyst for social change. Students choose to focus on one of two tracks during their time at CGP: Science Museum Studies and History Museum Studies. Both tracks have a generalist curriculum, so students explore many aspects of museum work. Our students benefit from small class sizes and a high faculty to student ratio. This allows students to get to know and work closely with professors, who are leaders and innovators in the field. Although CGP itself is a small program, as an academic division of SUNY College at Oneonta students also have access to the resources of a much larger state university. We love to connect with prospective students, professionals in the field, alumni, or anyone interested in museum studies!
