Housing is a human right. More than 2 million Michiganders have arrest or conviction histories that make it difficult to find housing—even though stable housing is key to helping people thrive when they return to their communities. By passing the Fair Chance Access to Housing Act, Michigan can ensure that applicants get a fair chance by limiting the use of conviction history screening during the rental application process. Last week our team helped coordinate the 2024 Apprenticeship Launch Network: Veteran Registered Apprenticeship event! It was great to see so many stakeholders come together to learn and share strategies to better serve our veterans through the Registered Apprenticeship Program training model.

Funded by Upper Peninsula Michigan Works!, Construction Connect UP offers high school students real-world experience with contractors in building trades across the U.P. After completion of the program, students are connected with local career opportunities, helping retain young talent in the Upper Peninsula!
