MSU PLS is pleased to coordinate with the Democracy at a Crossroads event on Wednesday, October 16, at 4:30 p.m. at the Pasant Theatre, Wharton Center for Performing Arts with MSU PLS alum Tim Alberta. Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II will join Outlier Media’s Sarah Alvarez for a discussion on tackling voter apathy through civic education and building trust in democracy. They’ll explore deeper issues and the role of government, community organizations, and residents in enacting real change. Then, The Atlantic’s Alberta, Elaine Godfrey, and Jemele Hill, along with Evan Smith, will discuss Michigan’s most pressing issues, including criminal-justice reform, housing, higher education, and the role of journalism.
