Yesterday over 80 board certified PAs, PA students, and other PA advocates met with around 50 legislators including Senators, Representatives, and legislative staff! The advocates were also able to hear from key policy makers including House Health Policy chair Rep Julie Rogers and Rep Carrie Rheingans - the sponsor of the Patient Led Care bill that would add PAs to the mental health code. Last week, MAPA announced The Patient-Led Care Package, House Bill 5114 sponsored by State Reps. Carrie Rheingans (D-Ann Arbor), House Bill 5115 sponsored by Donavan McKinney (D-Detroit), House Bill 5116 sponsored by Reggie Miller (D-Van Buren Township) and House Bill 5117 sponsored by Curt VanderWall (R-Ludington), to modernize PA practice and regulation, and ultimately provide healthcare teams the flexibility needed to meet the growing needs of Michigan patients in both urban and rural areas. Healthcare providers from across Michigan joined State Representatives to stand up for patient-led care including PAs, physicians, NPs, hospital executives, social workers and patient advocates. #patientledcare https://lnkd.in/ed9SafdR
