We are proud to announce that the state-of-the-art fiber sizing line, which we have partnered with IACMI – The Composites Institute and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville to operate, is the first operational line at Innovation South, a premier research and collaboration facility in the UT Research Park at Cherokee Farm. This advanced 70-foot modular line applies chemical coatings to fibers, enabling the development of lighter, stronger, and more versatile #composites. It also provides a valuable platform for hands-on training, bridging the gap between research and commercialization while empowering the next generation of engineers. Innovation South, located in Knoxville, Tennessee, is an 85,000-square-foot hub designed for collaboration among academia, government, and industry. It supports cutting-edge research in composite materials for automotive, architecture, and precision agriculture industries. IACMI is hosting an open house for members on February 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM EST. During the event, Steve Bassetti, Michelman’s?Director, Global Marketing, Fibers & Composites, will share insights on our partnership with IACMI and the importance of early-stage collaboration in advancing the composites industry. We were recently honored to host Luxembourg Minister Stéphanie Obertin, Minister for Digitalisation and Minister for Research and Higher Education, and Minister Serge Wilmes, Minister of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, at our offices and laboratories in Windhof. We shared how Michelman’s purpose of Innovating a Sustainable Future supports many of the government-sponsored environmental initiatives in Luxembourg and surrounding countries, including: ? ?? Our continuing collaboration with industry leaders to accelerate the transition from multi-material, non-recyclable packaging to recyclable, fiber-based or mono-material film alternatives through the use of water-based coatings, for which we have been recognized by FEDIL - The Voice of Luxembourg's Industry, Packaging Europe, and others. ? ? The water reclamation project at our Aubange manufacturing site has resulted in a nearly 70% reduction in wastewater. This includes a significant expansion of water reuse combined with utilizing collected rainwater at our manufacturing facility. ? ? Advancements in digitalisation have reduced paper consumption in our manufacturing facility, laboratory, and business offices. ? During the event, we had an insightful conversation regarding the mutual benefits that arise when the state provides incentives that encourage both businesses and employees to come to Luxembourg.
