Natural light is more than a design feature — it’s a game changer for architecture and occupant well-being. The Pantheon in Rome, with its stunning oculus, is a perfect example of how toplighting connects the earthly and divine, blending aesthetics and function. Today, modern toplighting solutions continue to revolutionize spaces, from office buildings to airports. They reduce energy consumption, enhance productivity, and improve mood by creating glare-free, evenly lit environments. Projects like Butler Square in Minneapolis and Heathrow’s Terminal 4 show the power of natural light to transform spaces while driving efficiency and sustainability. | Image courtesy of Kalwall | Read the full article: https://bit.ly/4hiRTKC #MichaelGraves #ArchitectureNews

As architects, we are proud to have played a pivotal role in designing McCreary Tower, the largest facility in Wake Forest University Athletics' history and a centerpiece of their football complex transformation. Our team collaborated closely to create a modern, fan-centric experience while honoring the university's architectural heritage. This new construction replaces the nearly forty-year-old press box at Groves Stadium (now Allegacy Stadium) and sets a new standard for game day. The design brings fans together through a grand courtyard, leading them through the arch and main gates into an experience that’s as visually impressive as it is functional. The seven-story tower houses club and suite levels, luxury seating, banquet spaces, and purpose-built areas for press and broadcasting crews, seamlessly blending tradition with innovation. Our work on McCreary Tower has been recognized with the 2012 Bronze Award for Commercial Architecture by The Brick Industry Association and the 2009 County Commissioner’s Award from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Community Appearance Commission. These accolades reflect our dedication to both aesthetic integrity and enhancing the athletic experience. Explore more about this award-winning project here: https://lnkd.in/gduwp29k

How can architecture help reconnect us with the sacred? A recent article in ArchDaily explores how modern spirituality isn’t vanishing—it's evolving. While aesthetics and innovation in design can inspire awe, they alone can't create sacred spaces. True spiritual connection emerges from lived human experience, not abstract forms or traditional structures. As architects, we must approach sacred space with humility, creating environments that magnify, rather than dictate, the sacred moments that come from personal experiences. Read more on that here: https://lnkd.in/gEJYmpn8 How do you think modern architecture can better serve the evolving spiritual needs of our time? #MichaelGraves #ArchDaily #ArchitectureNews
