We are excited to highlight the work of Professor Bernadette Atuahene, a Harvard and Yale-trained law professor at USC Gould School of Law. Professor Atuahene recently released her book, Plundered: How Racist Policies Undermine Black Homeownership in America, and will be hosting her launch event at?@booksandbooks?in Coral Gables on Sunday, March 23rd from 2-3pm. Through a compelling narrative, the book explores the deep-seated effects of systemic housing injustices on Black Americans. By examining the experiences of two grandfathers—one Black and one white—and their grandchildren, Atuahene sheds light on how seemingly well-intended policies have perpetuated the racial wealth gap and undermined Black homeownership. 关于我们
Miami Homes For All is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that aims to improve the housing ecosystem in Miami-Dade County so that it produces more affordable housing, preserves that which we have, and increases marginalized residents’ access to that housing. Miami Homes For All's mission is to ensure that all Miami-Dade residents have a safe, affordable place to call home. We are especially concerned with households earning 80% of area median income or less. Nearly all of those pay more than they can afford for housing. Also, the shortage of units for those households is 5 times the shortage for those earning over 80% of area median income.

We remain energized and inspired after our 3C Progress Update and Palm Plaza Groundbreaking last week. We celebrated the beginning of the construction of 15 small- to medium-sized affordable housing developments, totaling over 150 units across key neighborhoods. ?? The projects are the product of the 3C (Connecting Capital and Community) Miami Initiative, a partnership among several community organizations, housing developers, and Miami-Dade County, led by us, Miami Homes For All. ?? 3C Miami’s goal is to prevent the displacement of Black and Hispanic residents from the rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods of greater Miami: Overtown, Little Haiti, Allapattah, Brownsville, North Miami and Liberty City. Local leaders, community members, developers, and housing advocates attended the event, celebrating this significant step towards creating more inclusive and sustainable living spaces. "At its core, 3C really was about imagining the way resources flow, about breaking down silos, and about ensuring that those who have been historically excluded are at the center of the solution. And, I am so happy to see that and for us to witness that here," said Omar Carrillo Tinajero, Executive Director at the Center for Community Investment, the leader of the national 3C Initiative, of which 3C Miami is a part. ???? We’re grateful to all that attended the event. Special thanks to: - Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, - City of Miami Chairwoman Christine King - Miami-Dade Commissioner Keon Hardemon - Shekeria Brown, VP of Community Engagement at JPMorganChase - Omar Carrillo Tinajero, Executive director of the Center for Community Investment - Isiaa Jones, Esq., Executive Director of the Omni CRA - Sandra Socarras, Founder & CEO of the SoFL Design Group - Lisa Martinez, Founder & CEO of LM Genuine Solutions - Trina Harris, CEO of Touching Miami with Love - Dr. Evalina Bestman - The Starke family Our speakers and team shared memorable reflections about the 3C Initiative. We look forward to sharing more about our 3C developments and the stories behind them.
