We provide basic police services throughout the unincorporated area of Miami-Dade County, Miami Lakes, Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay. Our decentralized police patrol in eight districts. Our specialized patrol teams include the airport, seaport, marine, motorcycle, bomb disposal and SWAT. Our crime investigators work with other law enforcement agencies, from local cities to the Department of Homeland Security. Strength, grace and community service come together in Valor, the newest member of our Mounted Patrol Unit! ?? We’re excited to announce that Felix Varela Senior High School has won the “A Horse With No Name” competition! ? Students from nine Miami-Dade high schools with agriscience programs competed to name our newest and first horse after transitioning into a Sheriff’s Office. The students were tasked with selecting a name that best captured the horse’s strength, grace, and unwavering dedication to serving our community. After carefully reviewing all the submissions, Sheriff Rosanna Cordero-Stutz selected the winning name, “Valor”, which was proudly presented at a ceremony today at Felix Varela Senior High School. Congratulations to the students for their creative and meaningful entry! ??
