Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Director Roy Coley, MBA ? WaterGuy ???? spoke at today’s Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce panel “Cooling with Purpose: How Public Private Innovation Transforms Wastewater into Energy” and discussed the department’s innovative plan to comply with the state’s Ocean Outfall Legislation requirements which includes reusing 60 percent of the department’s wastewater flows. Through the implementation of Effluent Energy Recovery Systems, which will provide cooling to onsite buildings by recycling the treated water from the wastewater plants, the department will surpass the required 60 percent reuse requirement – and will increase our commitment from 15 million gallons per day to more than 100 million gallons per day of reuse, making the department the number one utility in the state of Florida, as well as the entire eastern coast for industrial water reuse. #MiamiDadeWater
