As remote work continues to attract a large segment of the workforce, many companies are looking for effective strategies to bring employees back into the office. According to a recent report, 90% of companies plan to implement return-to-office policies by the end of 2024. However, this effort faces significant resistance—almost half of employees surveyed by the Integrated Benefits Institute indicated they would consider leaving their job if required to return to the office full-time. To navigate these challenges, HR and employee experience teams are rethinking their approaches. Facility management’s deep understanding of the built environment can offer valuable insights, helping to create spaces that attract employees back to the office. By leveraging innovative solutions, like smart building technologies and adaptable workspaces, facility managers can play a crucial role in making the office a more appealing place to work.
