What kind of keyswitch is located on the elevator door frames? If you see this keyswitch it would be the Hoistway Access for use by the elevator mechanics and inspectors only to access the hoistway and the equipment inside it. We’ve seen this medical symbol sign popping up on newer elevator installations. If you are an EMT or First Responder this is the elevator to look for. It fits the stretcher. What determines the type of elevator doors you choose for your project? Usually, it is how much space you have on the entry walls and the size of the doors. For passenger elevators (or service elevators with horizontal opening doors, not vertical bi-parting freight doors) you will see center opening or side slide. You may also see multi-speed side slide or center opening when the space is really tight. If you're having door issues, give us a call for an equipment evaluation.
