?? ?? Members of the Fire/EMS community in the Capital Area: Become a Certified Mental Health First Aider for FREE! March 10th, 8:30am-4pm, Albany NY Register here: https://lnkd.in/eQFXiraJ Mental Health First Aid for Fire/EMS is an evidence-based and early intervention training program developed for adults to learn how to assist and support members of their community who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. This training teaches participants a 5-step action plan to offer initial help to people with early or worsening signs and symptoms of a mental illness or in a crisis.?It also shows the relevance of mental health to the Fire/EMS community, as well as risk and protective factors specific to the community. This one-day training is being offered for free to Firefighters, EMS Personnel, Members of the Fire/EMS Community and Family members of the Fire/EMS community in the Capital Region (Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga and Rensselaer Counties) through a grant from SAMHSA (samhsa.gov) and will be sponsored and facilitated by Mental Health Association in New York State (MHANYS) at their training center in Albany, NY.

Our next free virtual Mental Health First Aid Certification Course is coming up on 2/5/25, 9am-3:30pm! Through grant funding provided by SAMHSA, MHANYS is hosting free Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to individuals or organizations in the Specialty Healthcare Provider field that live or work in the Capital Region (Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga or Schenectady counties). For those working in healthcare, behavioral health, veterinary offices, community health, human services or relevant nonprofits in any capacity, this training is for you! MHFA is an evidence-based, early intervention program that teaches participants a 5-step action plan to learn to identify and offer initial help to someone with a mental health or substance use challenge. MHANYS is hosting a series of Free Adult Mental Health First Aid Trainings for those working and/or living in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga or Schenectady Counties that are also part of the Fire/EMS, Military/Veteran, Public Safety/Corrections or Specialty Care Provider communities. Trainings will be held at our new Training Center in Albany, NY, with the exception of the Specialty Care Provider trainings which will be virtual. Please see the corresponding flyers and sign up to register for a training by scanning the QR code or clicking the link. We are able to provide these trainings for free to these populations through grant funding from SAMHSA (samhsa.gov). If you work for a Specialty Healthcare Provider's office in the Capital Region (Albany, Saratoga, Schenectady and Rensselaer counties) - MHANYS is excited to host and offer free Adult Mental Health First Aid Certification/Training sessions. Upcoming virtual certification dates at a glance for 2024 are: 8/12 (full day session), 9/18-9/19 (half day sessions), 10/9-10/10 (half day sessions), 11/13 (full day session). These sessions are open and free to anyone working or residing in Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga or Rensselaer counties, who are part of the Specialty Provider community (Doctor, PT and OT offices, healthcare facilities, community health-based organizations, Veterinarian offices, nonprofits providing physical, behavioral or substance use services, etc.) Through grant funding via SAMHSA, we are able to provide this vital, evidence-based training designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to provide initial support to individuals who may be experiencing mental health challenges or crises. Trainings are provided by certified, MHANYS-vetted instructors with lived or personal experience and/or direct connection with these communities. Attached is an informational flyer with details, 2024 dates and a registration link and QR code to sign up for a training. Seats are limited to 30 per training, so sign up today. Certification in Mental Health First Aid is valid for three years from award date, with the option to take a recertification course at the end of the three year period. If you would like us to host an in-person training for your organization at our state of the art Training Center at our MHANYS office in Albany, NY, we can do that. There is plenty of parking, public transportation, and elevator/ADA access to our training center. We can also schedule a virtual training for your staff on a date not listed, or conduct training in person at one of your locations, or another community gathering place.
