What’s the real reason people quit? It’s not always about the money. It’s not always about the workload. Most of the time, people leave because they feel unseen, unappreciated, and undervalued. And here’s what’s frustrating—recognition costs nothing. A simple “thank you” can change workplace culture. Acknowledging effort makes people more engaged. Leaders who make recognition a habit keep their best people. But too many companies treat recognition as a “nice-to-have” instead of a leadership necessity. In this episode of Work, But Make It Human, we break down: ? Why lack of recognition is a top reason people quit ? How to build a culture where people feel valued ? Simple ways to make recognition a daily habit ?? Listen here: ?? https://lnkd.in/g-GEDfCZ or your favorite podcast platform ?? Want to make recognition a habit? What does real accountability actually look like? It’s easy to talk about accountability. It’s harder to define it—and even harder to practice it. Here’s how it actually works: ?? Level 1: Personal Accountability → Do you take responsibility for your mistakes? Do you follow through? Or do you make excuses? ?? Level 2: Team Accountability → Are expectations clear? Can people admit mistakes without fear? Or is accountability just a punishment? ?? Level 3: Organizational Accountability → If employees face consequences for mistakes, do executives? Or does accountability only apply to certain people? If accountability only exists at the bottom, it’s not real accountability. Watch this clip from Work, But Make It Human, then ask yourself: ?? Which level does your company actually operate at? ?? Full episode here: ?? https://lnkd.in/g-GEDfCZ ?? Want to take action? Download the free Accountability Toolkit: https://lnkd.in/gNTSc-X8

?? Companies don’t fail because they lack talent. They fail because they lack real accountability. Accountability looks great on a poster. It sounds great in meetings. But when it’s time to actually practice it? ? Leaders expect accountability from employees—but don’t model it themselves. ? Companies create systems where it’s easier to hide mistakes than own them. ? Results-driven leadership puts short-term gains over long-term trust. And that’s exactly why so many organizations struggle—not because they don’t have great people, but because those people don’t feel safe enough to take ownership. Watch this clip from Work, But Make It Human, then ask yourself: ?? Is accountability in your workplace real—or just a talking point? ?? When accountability is optional, it disappears. Accountability isn’t a word on a wall or a PowerPoint bullet point—it’s a choice. And the best leaders don’t just talk about it. They live it. ? When leaders hold themselves accountable, teams follow. ? When companies commit to accountability, cultures shift. ? When industries embrace it, everything changes. But it has to start somewhere. And that somewhere? It’s you. Watch this clip from Work, But Make It Human, then ask yourself: ?? Is accountability real in your workplace—or just a slogan? ?? "Accountability isn’t about pointing fingers—it’s about owning outcomes." Too often, accountability in the workplace turns into a blame game. Mistakes get hidden instead of fixed. Employees fear speaking up. Leaders demand accountability—but don’t model it themselves. The best leaders understand one thing: Accountability isn’t about blame—it’s about ownership. In the latest episode of Work, But Make It Human, Jim Mayer explores: ? Why psychological safety is essential for real accountability ? The difference between a blame culture and an ownership culture ? How leaders who model accountability inspire accountability in their teams ? Practical ways to create a culture of accountability that drives success Accountability isn’t just a slogan—it’s a choice. And when leaders get it right, teams thrive. ??
