Construction is moving along at The Harvey School in Katonah, NY, where a thoughtful transformation is bringing new life to the historic Weil House and Barn. This project beautifully balances the preservation of 19th-century farmstead charm with the needs of a modern educational facility. In collaboration with Siegel, We're incredibly proud to be part of a project that will inspire and serve its community for generations to come! ???? #AdaptiveReuse #EducationalDesign #HistoricPreservation #CommunityEngagement #ProudPartner
Construction is underway at The Harvey School in Katonah, NY for a group of intimately scaled buildings and outdoor spaces that will provide welcoming and flexible facilities for admissions, development, alumni, and support operations, as well as flexible offices and conference facilities. The project includes the major renovation of the Harvey School Weil House and Barn, returning the site to the simplicity of the original farm homestead while recovering the spirit and spatial quality of the 19th century buildings. The design strikes a delicate balance between respecting the site’s history and meeting the requirements of a modern educational facility. The careful preservation of the iconic house and barn structures, combined with the thoughtful integration of contemporary elements, creates a dynamic environment for learning and community engagement. The Harvey Well House & Barn Complex stands as a testament to sensitive adaptive reuse, poised to inspire and serve users for generations to come. #siegeldesign #newconstruction #theharveyschool #studentlife #architecture #architecturaldesign
"For decades, the mantra ‘location, location, location’ has been the cornerstone of property value in real estate. Yet today, a seismic shift is underway, as the rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and the surging demand for greater power capacities take center stage in reshaping the commercial real estate market. What’s fueling this dramatic transformation in office power needs, and how can developers future-proof their buildings to meet the demands of this new era?" Read more on Susie See's take on what is driving the power appetite in real estate.
We are thrilled to celebrate the official opening of the California College of the Arts campus expansion—gracing the cover of Architectural Record! From the outset, this project set an ambitious goal of operational #carbonneutrality. In collaboration with a truly impressive #projectteam, through integrative design, we were able to achieve new levels of sustainability in #SanFrancisco’s design landscape. The campus expansion features two pioneering pavilions that showcase California’s first exposed mass timber structures atop a concrete podium housing heavy maker spaces. MEYERS+ ENGINEERS collaborated with Studio Gang and the project’s sustainability consultant, Atelier Ten, to create MEP systems that contribute to the project’s operational carbon neutrality goal.?Notable features include a light-touch all-electric HVAC system with actuated windows and night flush.?The MEP design supports the first floor’s intensive shops for furniture-making, CNC fabrication, spray-painting, ceramics, screen printing, lithography, digital fabrication, sandblasting, and jewelry metalsmithing.?Sustainability is a cornerstone, with a future-ready microgrid infrastructure that positions the campus for net-zero energy use.? #engineeringfunfact - A standout feature of this project is its readiness for a future microgrid. Equipped with infrastructure for battery storage, controls, and rooftop solar photovoltaics, the building has the capacity to meet 100% of its anticipated energy demands and help achieve net-zero energy—a testament to CCA’s leadership in sustainability. Proud to help bring this inspiring vision to life! ?? Located in San Francisco’s design district, our expansion of California College of the Arts’ campus is designed to support the College’s commitment to sustainability while supporting new interdisciplinary approaches to arts education. The building features two new pavilions which are among the first exposed mass timber structures in California. They feature an expressive diagrid structure that makes the lateral and gravity loads of the building visible and speaks to the college’s ambitious sustainability goals. The hybrid timber and steel structure and minimal finishes reduce the building’s embodied carbon footprint by nearly 50% compared to typical buildings. Below, practices with heavy equipment are intentionally located on the ground floor to efficiently concentrate structural loads and mechanical infrastructure as well as provide adaptability as new needs, disciplines, and technologies develop. The building is also equipped for future implementation of a microgrid, including battery storage, controls, and rooftop solar photovoltaics that could meet 100% of the building’s anticipated energy demands and help it achieve net zero energy. ?? MEYERS+ ENGINEERS was proud to team up with McNamara ? Salvia, Structural Engineers New York for #CANstruction New York’s 2024 Build Night at Brookfield Place! Our collaborative theme, “Seal You Later, Hunger!” showcases a playful seal perched on an iceberg, balancing a can on its nose ??. Constructed from 5,664 cans of tuna, salmon, mixed vegetables, and black beans, this display spans an 8'-0" x 8'-0" base and stands roughly 6 feet tall, representing enough food to feed 1,850 New Yorkers. ? Alongside 23 other teams, this year’s competition has raised nearly 65,000 cans for the City Harvest food bank. We’d be honored if you’d vote for our build in the People’s Choice Award here: https://lnkd.in/eCPrX2Uy ? #creativetothecore #MEP #canstruction #fighthunger #canstructionny ?

Congratulations to West Edge for winning a 2024 AIA California Design Award! Designed by Gensler, West Edge stands out as a premier example of innovative design. "West Edge pioneers a fresh concept known as Community Design. Workspaces are woven seamlessly into the fabric of the community, as opposed to being stand-alone entities. The integration of workplaces, retail, residences, and accessible open gardens serves as a prototype for future neighborhoods, where neighbors build community through these shared offerings and experiences." MEYERS+ ENGINEERS provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing & fire protection engineering services for the office and podium building.? #engineeringfunfact The Building’s high-efficiency 360 ton chilled water system is supplemented by 100 ton a magnetic bearing chiller that is used for thermal storage/ice generation. The custom air handling system includes enhanced air filtration with UV lights to deliver the highest air quality to the office tenants. Honored for its outstanding architecture, West Edge elevates community living with a fresh, modern approach. We feel so privileged to have contributed to such a wonderful project.
