We are thrilled that Moleskine Foundation and its partners have named our organization #MeWe International Inc. (@mewesyria @mewehonduras @mewehonduras x others) among 2024’s Creativity Pioneers Fund award winners. We are grateful and humbled to be among 20 or so leading artists and innovators from across the world chosen for this timely and powerful work and community. Our world is on fire. Our planet is a nervous system. Our humankind is a nervous system. While the world may seem broken—and in some cases it is—-WE are not broken —and our collective creativity and resilience are not broken. Creative expression and creative practices are vital for community health, equity, and human rights. This is our mission #MeWe International Inc. . And we must rise together. Love and gratitude to @moleskinefoundation @adama__sanneh @commartsnetwork @entschki Porticus for your support, trust, and championship. Most importantly this award is a victory and validation for our global #MeWeIntl communities—from zaatari refugee camp and Syria, to Turkey to Lebanon to Gaza —to Honduras and Mexico to the United States to many more spaces . From prisons to refugee camps to museums and hospitals and schools—you ALL are our community and ALL stories are sacred. We are one and this award and recognition is yours. Love over fear. —-#meweintl CEO Mohsin

UNITED NATIONS General Assembly Side-Event, recap: Investing in Youth #MentalHealth event. We were recently invited by UNICEF to facilitate #MeWe International Inc. activities from our #arts and #mentalhealth programs. We also were honored to join a panel of innovative companies like @jomalonelondon Zurich Insurance Spotify & lululemon who are joining UNICEF’s youth mental health coalition. A few points of focus from our founder’s speech at UNICEF: 1) Inequality lives in language. Access to —-and the expansion of —-the language and tools for #mentalhealth must be decentralized and decolonized. 2) The arts and storytelling are powerful tools for promoting community based mental health psychosocial support spaces. Communication skills-building is a critical pillar of mental health and human rights. Arts and storytelling are not a product for health but a process for advancing health 3) trust and train survivors and those living in proximity to the issues to take the head, localize, and scale. 4) Investments in mental health must include programs and tools for healing the healers and community volunteers. 5) Mental health is not a treatment for normalizing systemic social inequality that dehumanizes some lives while protecting and uplifting others. Systemic inequality and social injustice must be addressed politically, not just clinically. Thank you to Nazila Nazila Zahra Vali and Carla from UNICEF for inviting us. Stories, communication, (visual—non verbal—music and rhythmic—body language—narratives—social connections)—all reshape our biology and psychology in some way. We believe it’s possible to reclaim agency of your health by reclaiming agency of the stories within you and by communication skills-building for social connectedness. These tools and creative ways of being are acts of health and justice in a time of collective grieve, collective dehumanization and uncertainty. It has been 1 year since 2 earthquakes cracked the earth in Turkey and Syria, claiming more than 50,000 lives and displacing tens of thousands of people. In this special episode of our podcast ‘The Understory’, we provide audio messages and stories of survival from our #MeWeSyria volunteers who lived in the epicenter zone and who lost their homes and friends and family. In the middle of the natural disaster, our Syrian heroes used our emergency aid micro grants to lead community spaces for healing and creative expression in the aftermath of the earthquake. They reached over 390 earthquake survivors with our storytelling and communication tools for health and community resilience. As the tectonic plates move and reshape our earth, our stories are our compass. Please listen and share. Love and gratitude to our Syrian heroes in #MeWeSyria #MeWeIntl: Sara, Shahed, Ola, Ayesha, Asmaa, Abood, Hiba, Huda, Solaiman, Omar, and Hadi.
