On September 18, Office of the Governor of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Secretary of Education celebrated ten schools named as the first-ever Governor’s Breakfast Champions during an event at the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg. The Breakfast Champions represent the top ten schools with the greatest success in participation in the inaugural Governor’s School Breakfast Challenge. Two of the top ten schools that were recognized include our teams at Oakview Elementary School, @lakeviewPA, and Joanna Connell Elementary School, @eriespublicschools! The Governor’s School Breakfast Challenge is a three-month program to encourage increased participation in the Universal Free Breakfast Program and recognize schools for increasing breakfast participation while implementing sustainable changes that incorporate more nutritious and local foods in their meal offerings. We couldn’t be prouder of our teams and congratulate them on this prestigious recognition. Seen shaking hands with Gov. Shapiro is Darlene Wendrock, general manager at Lakeview School District.

October's Street Eats features fish wings in celebration of National Seafood Month. Check out chef Mike and Linda of Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School deciding how to prepare fish wings for their Upper School guests. ??About fish wings: Fish wings are crispy, melt-in-your-mouth pieces of fish shaped like chicken wings. According to chef Mike, they're great fried or baked.

National Dumpling Day was a hit! While the day was celebrated throughout our company, the healthcare division went all out with a build-your-own dumpling noodle bowl extravaganza. The creativity and flavor combinations were endless. There was something for everyone, from classic chicken and vegetable dumplings to flavorful vegetable dumplings. Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the extensive histories, diverse cultures, and many contributions of Hispanic and Latin citizens to American life. Across the U.S., it’s a month filled with festivities, conferences, community gatherings, and of course, plenty of good food, like Flan de Queso (cream cheese flan) from Gloryselle Lopez, chef at Hillsborough Community College. “My culinary journey is deeply rooted in a family passionate about food,” Chef Lopez said. “Growing up, I spent countless hours in the kitchen with my great-grandmother who taught me the traditional Puerto Rican dishes. This early immersion in authentic flavors and techniques laid the foundation for a lifelong love of cooking.”
