We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the 100+ transit enthusiasts who attended our event last week! The event featured a breakfast reception and private chartered train tour with programming that focused on imagining sustainable transit and the role it plays in shaping thriving communities. Special thanks to our reception speakers and transit champions State Senator Ram Villivalam, and House Representative Eva-Dina Delgado. We were excited to see participation from so many of our partners, collaborators and state legislators. Attendees enjoyed an informative and fun morning with inspiring stories, visionary ideas…and even transit Bingo with prizes! We also appreciate our tour speakers who relayed the impact of transit and its important relationship to the surrounding communities: architect Carol Ross Barney FAIA, Phillip L Beckham III (P3 Markets), Bernard Loyd (URBAN JUNCTURE FOUNDATION), Juan Sebastian A. (Elevated Chicago ETOD), and Justin Hayford (Esperanza Health Centers). We are grateful to our generous sponsors who made this event possible: CROWN FAMILY FOUNDATION, BMO, Capri Investment Group, U.S. Bank, Wintrust Financial Corporation, Nicor Gas, Peoples Gas, GCM Grosvenor, ComEd, Faegre Drinker, Carnahan Family Foundation, HARRIS FAMILY FOUNDATION, Ann M. Drake, CAROL LAVIN BERNICK FAMILY FOUNDATION, Christopher B. Burke Engineering - Chicagoland, CIBC, d'Escoto, Inc., For Good Advisory, Illinois Housing Development Authority, Miller Cooper & Co., Ltd., PNC, R.M. Chin & Associates, Inc., Kathy Stodgell & David Mook, and the Village of Franklin Park. MPC is actively engaged in developing legislative and policy recommendations for the future of the region’s transit system. Issues at stake include financial viability and funding, rider experience, community and economic development and governance. Our event yesterday highlighted how investing in transit enables the growth and vibrancy of our communities and neighborhoods. Learn more about this work here: https://lnkd.in/gEg_6sCf

Join us in congratulating MPC Vice President Kendra Jackson Freeman on her recent recognition as one of Crain's Chicago Business 2024 Notable Black Leaders. This honor acknowledges individuals who serve in senior leadership roles and who have demonstrated significant accomplishments within their industry, professional organizations and community groups. In making its selection, Crain's noted the key role Kendra played in the "Cost of Segregation" study as well as her policy work on equitable transit-oriented development (ETOD) which contributed to a $10 million ETOD grant investment by the city of Chicago. We couldn't be prouder of the impact Kendra's leadership has provided to policy and systems change initiatives and we commend her on this remarkable achievement!
