Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns, Environment and Energy Committee Chair and Immediate Past Executive Board Chair, spoke about our EV Readiness Program at a ComEd press conference last week at the Chicago Auto Show. ComEd announced $100 million in EV rebates at the event, including all-electric fleet rebates and make-ready charging infrastructure rebates for the public sector and businesses. For residents, ComEd is offering rebates on EV charger and installation costs. "ComEd's support of our EV Readiness Program and commitment to expanding EV adoption and infrastructure has been a game-changer for the communities we serve," Mayor Burns said. "By supporting our local initiatives to advance policies and build infrastructure for a sustainable future, ComEd’s investments will play a key role in reducing emissions, improving air quality, and ensuring an equitable transition to clean transportation across northern Illinois." Let your residents know that the application cycle for the Illinois EPA Electric Vehicle (EV) Rebate Program is now open through April 30, 2025. State residents who purchase a new or used all-electric vehicle from an Illinois licensed dealer may be eligible for a $4,000 rebate for an EV and a $1,500 rebate for the purchase of an all-electric motorcycle. Rebate applications must be submitted within 90 days of vehicle purchase. Funding is limited, and low-income applicants are given priority for rebates. Timely submittal of an application will improve the chance of receiving a rebate. Only individuals can receive a rebate. Businesses and local governments are not eligible.
