Last week, a Cook County program that helps redevelop abandoned homes in disinvested parts of the city and suburbs celebrated the 2,000th property developed through the Cook County Land Bank Authority! Three MFS participants were among the builders! Two participants of our Youth Build program and one from our Bridge to Construction Program. The Bridge to Construction student, Tierra Montgomery also took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony. Since completing the Bridge to Construction program a year ago, Ms. Montgomery started her own company, T&C Infinite Remodeling. You can read the full story from WBEZ by clicking below.

Metropolitan Family Services has signed up to be a Civic Organization with the Illinois State Board of Elections. This summer, 40 MFS staff members were trained as Deputy Voter Registrars by the Illinois State of Board Election to encourage civic engagement and register our colleagues, families, and communities to vote in the 2024 General Election. In honor of National Voter Registration Day, each week we continue to share videos from MFS Deputy Voter Registrars to talk about civic engagement & voting, what it means to them, and why it matters. This week we have a video from Anthony Miller at our DuPage Center! Watch the videos and catch us at one of our community events! #VOTEREADY
