"In 2050 I want on demand paratransit service in Central Florida."- Alsi "I would love to take rail or just to be able to walk safely. As blind people everything is a big, planned event just to go down the street to the store. When we can't walk to where we need to go, we lose our freedom." - Dan "I want to see a future where we are thinking about the pedestrians, those who walk to get where they need to go. I want safe, walkable communities where I am not confined to my house and can interact with my community. I don't want to depend on cars or delivery services." - Leslie We met with the Greater Orlando Council of the Blind to talk about the future of Central Florida transportation as we plan for the year 2050. Our discussion was insightful, and we heard about travel experiences from people with visual impairment or blindness. Every piece of feedback is essential as we shape our 2050 Plan. #2050Plan #TransportationPlanning #MetropolitanPlanningOrganization #Transportation #CentralFlorida #CommunityEngagement

How about funds for complete streets that include turn lanes, crosswalks, access improvements and speed management? Perhaps more enhanced transit services for bus and rail? What are your transportation priorities and what matters to you when it comes to planning transportation decades into the future? We need your feedback so that the 2050 Plan reflects the community's needs and values. Our public outreach team participated in Aerospace & Aviation Day 2025 at the Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) this past weekend. The annual, family-friendly event is geared towards Seminole County Public Schools students interested in science, engineering and aviation professions. We hosted a very popular table where we spoke to adults and children about what we do at MetroPlan Orlando and how we are currently working on our 2050 Plan, our long-range planning document. We gave out over 1,000 pieces of MetroPlan Orlando materials at the event. Everything from branded tote bags and LED light up bracelets, to 2050 Plan youth activity books and brochures. If you would like to give us your thoughts, you can take the 2050 Plan survey (2 minutes) by visiting: https://bit.ly/2050Plan2 . If you would like our outreach team to present to your group about how we are planning for the future of Central Florida transportation or attend your community event, please contact our Communication Specialist, Leilani Vaiaoga, at [email protected]. We are currently taking requests for 2025. #2050Plan #TransportationPlanning #MetropolitanPlanningOrganization #Transportation #CentralFlorida #CommunityEngagement
