Metropia’s 2024: A Year of Engineering Smarter Mobility ??
As we start the new year, we’re reflecting on a year defined by innovation, collaboration, and measurable impact. At Metropia, our team of developers, engineers, stakeholders, and partners tackled some of the most complex challenges in transportation, delivering scalable solutions that advance the future of mobility.
Here’s how we made a difference in 2024:
??Houston ConnectSmart
Year two of the Texas Department of Transportation's Houston District's ConnectSmart platform highlighted the power of seamless intermodal integration and real-time data. With features like Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, HOV/HOT lane recognition, and third-party navigation, we supported the sale of 54,000+ transit tickets and eliminated 51,000 vehicular miles traveled, reducing 46,000 pounds of CO? emissions. ??Taiwan’s MaaS API Platform
Serving 10+ million users, this national system integrates 9,000+ transit routes and powers 200,000 daily trips across cities, rail, buses, bikes, and ferries. With 2024’s successful mid-term review, the platform continues to set a global standard for scalable MaaS architecture.
?? GoMyWayVA
Launching an early adopter “pioneer” program in February 2025, GoMyWayVA represents our latest engineering milestone. This modular MaaS platform, developed with the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation for the RM3P program, is designed to inspire sustainable travel behavior through features like dynamic incentives and intermodal trip planning.
?? Carbon Cred Partnership
Our partnership with CarbonCred bridges MaaS technology with carbon credit certification, empowering cities and employers to quantify and reduce emissions through actionable VMT and carbon data.
?? Driving the Conversation
From the ITS World Congress and NVTA Roundtable, to the TDM and Carbon Reduction event, Metropia’s leadership shared key insights on AI, dynamic incentivization, traveler behavior change, and the future of integrated mobility systems.
?? What’s Next?
As we step into 2025, we’re doubling down on engineering-driven solutions that prioritize sustainability, interoperability, and user-centric design.
