A home run celebration for the new Aaron Pointer Field—Home of the Stadium Tigers! On January 15, Parks Tacoma, Stadium High School students, coaches, principals, and community members celebrated the grand opening of the new Aaron Pointer Field at Peck Community Sports Park with a festive ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Stadium cheerleaders added extra spirit to the festivities while guests enjoyed a commemorative cookie as a sweet way to mark the occasion. The new field, a joint effort between Tacoma Public Schools and Parks Tacoma, is fully equipped for year-round play. Featuring batting cages, bullpens, restrooms, storage facility, synthetic turf and site improvements, such as fencing and ADA accessible ramps. This field will serve Central Tacoma’s Hilltop community and provide a home field for Stadium High baseball team for years to come. This baseball field improvement is one of several track and field improvements projects funded by the $535 million school construction bond voters passed in 2020. #StadiumTigers #ThankYouVoters #TPS #BuildingForAchievement #PT A special thanks to: Korsmo Construction Parks Tacoma Parametrix Hellas DA Hogan Stadium High School Boosters Club Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g8mR-y54

BIG NEWS. We are now Parks Tacoma. At the heart of everything we do, parks are where it all happens. This brand update has been a multi-year journey with our community partners, employees, and so many of you. THANK YOU. We know change can feel like calling your favorite café by its new name … a little awkward at first. But we promise that less can mean more. We can’t wait to share our vision with you over the next few days. We look forward to this new chapter and a name that’s crystal clear about who we are and why we’re here.

Ayala was recently elected to the Pierce County Council and will be sworn into that post at the start of her term in January 2025. From Nov. 19 to Dec. 3 interested and eligible individuals can apply for the appointments through an online process. Read more at https://lnkd.in/gSEdng-F
